FAN Conversations delivers online discussions with FAN members and industry experts, on a range of topics that are relevant to the cinema exhibition sector in a challenging and changeable climate. The conversations are open to FAN members and the wider film and creative industries sector. Bringing together a panel of representatives from independent cinemas from across the UK, this FAN Conversation looked at the benefits of connecting with younger audiences and approaches that will help exhibitors to achieve it.
In the conversation, panelists shared their experiences of initiatives such as: implementing ticketing schemes, running focus group sessions, switching up their food offers, commissioning young bloggers and even opening up their doors to independent young curators and community groups.
The session was chaired by Thea Berry (Exhibitor Relations Officer at Together Films) and included guests Caroline Wilson (Independent Curator and Producer UNDR LNDN), Tom Jowett (Film Programmer & Marketing Manager at Oxford’s Ultimate Picture Palace), Rafa Sales Ross (Freelance Film Journalist & Community Engagement and Learning Manager at Aberdeen’s Belmont Filmhouse) and Tyrone Walker Hebborn (Film Producer & Owner of Genesis Independent Cinema).
